 Hour lab

Examines requirements for Organic Certification, record keeping requirements, accepted practices and products.

A new course to cover the specific legal requirements for Organic Certification.  Production classes would apply the methods but don’t have the time to cover all the aspects of certification.  This will allow a focus for those students who want to certify their farms.

Leeward has AG 112 Introduction to Organic Agriculture (4) that looks at organic methods and sustainable agriculture but not focused specifically certification requirements.  UHM has TPSS 220 Organic Food Production (2) but this is a survey course on organic methods and farm visits.  AG 113 has a more specific focus and is 1 credit.
