The following instructions are provided for configuring Netscape immediately after installing Netscape 7.1 as discussed in Installing Netscape 7.1. A few of these steps are pertinent only to the first launching of Netscape 7.1. If you have been using Netscape 7.1 and are viewing these instructions now, image sequencing may be out of order. Print out and follow these instructions if you wish, but remember that in step 20 you will need to click on the Port1080 link to install the Room Scheduler fix. modified 06/01/2004 |

1. Launch Netscape 7.1 using the icon on your desktop.

| 2. Click on Edit in the menu and select Preferences. |

3. Find the Location textbox and type in: http://www.maui.hawaii.edu/ Click the OK button. |

| 4. Click on either of two Mail icons to launch Netscape Messenger. See the two red boxes to the right for their locations, one in the toolbar and the other at the bottom left corner of the window. |

5. Place a checkmark in the Do not display this dialog again box. Click the Yes button. |
|
|
6. (You may need to click on the Get Msg icon in the toolbar for this dialog window to appear) To the right is an example of my email. You should see your username prior to the @mail. Type in your password and click the OK button. |

6a. Click on Edit | Preferences Select all the buttons to see in the toolbar (File, Next, Print, Stop, Junk). Click OK to close the dialog box. |

7. Open the Address Book by: Clicking on Window in the menu and selecting Address Book or
Clicking the Address Book icon on the bottom left corner.

8. Delete all UH Directory items if displayed in the list.
|
|
|
9. In Address Book, click File in the menu, select New, and select LDAP Directory. |
|
|
10. Type in the information in the example to the right. Or cut and paste the information below into the Directory Server Properties box. UH Directory Click the OK button. |

11. Close address book.
|

12. Click on Edit in the menu and select Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings
|
|
|
13. Type in your full name, email address and organization as found in the example to the right. This information will be used in the From section of your emails so capitalize the first letters in your name and organization. Verify the correct spelling of your email address. YourFirstName YourLastName Unversity of Hawaii, Maui Community College Uncheck the checkbox for Compose messages in HTML format If you will use HTML to compose, then leave it checked. |

14. Click on the Server Settings section under mail, not news. Verify the Server Name is mail and the User Name is your correct user name. (Example is of POP Mail Server.) Place a checkmark for Use secure connection (SSL). You should see the port number 993 for IMAP and 995 for POP appear in the Port field. |

15. If you want to save a copy of emails sent, click on the Copies and Folders section. Using the example to the right, change your "Sent" Folder on to Local Folders by clicking on the down arrow in that section. Do the same for Drafts and Templates.
If you want to BCC yourself, uncheck the "Place a copy in.." box and check the BCC box. |

16. Click on Addressing section. Click the radio button for Use a different LDAP server.

| 17. Click on the drop down arrow where it says None and select UH Directory. |
|
|
18. Click on the Outgoing Server (SMTP) section. Verify that the server name is mail. (IMPORTANT for sending email) Check the checkbox Use name and password. Type in your username. Select Never. Click the OK button. |

19. Remove all desktop shortcuts to old version of Netscape and Email. Also remove the AOL and IM advertisement icons.
