Launch WS_FTP. Choose step 1, step 2 or both steps depending on your situation.

1. Configurations For Your Personal Website.

Make the following selection on the Session Profile dialog box (as shown in the image above):

Click on the new button
Profile Name: <select a name for the webdsk profile>
Host Name: mccada.mauicc.hawaii.edu
Host Type: Automatic detect
User ID: <your MCC Computing username>
Password: <leave this blank. You'll be asked to supply the password after you click OK>
Remote Host: webdsk:[<your MCC Computing username>]
Local PC: < optional. This path reflects where your webpages reside on your computer>

Select AutoSave Config.

Click on the Save button. (This step will save this profile configuration. In the future, click on the down arror of the Profile name to display the drop-down list and select the name you chose for this profile.)

Click the OK button.

2. Configurations For Campus-Unit Website.

If you have privileges for modifying a campus-unit website create another session profile by making the following selection in another Session Profile dialog box (as shown in the image above):

Click on the new button
Profile Name:
<select a name for the campus-unit profile>
Host Name: mccada.mauicc.hawaii.edu
Host Type: Automatic detect
User ID: <campus-unit webpage name>
Password: <leave this blank. You'll be asked to supply the password after you click OK>
Remote Host: w3dsk:[<campus-unit web name>]
Local PC: < optional. This path reflects where your webpages reside on your computer>

Select AutoSave Config.

Click on the Save button. (This step will save this profile configuration. In the future, click on the down arror of the Profile name to display the drop-down list and select the name you chose for this profile.)

Click the OK button.

3. If necessary go to the appropriate directory on your hard drive and webdsk or w3dsk by using the scrollbar and green up arrows until the appropriate directories (or folders) are shown in the white System boxes.

4. In the left pane-Local System, click to select the file(s) on your PC. NOTE: Select the Binary radio button before transferring images (.gif, .jpg, etc.) and select the ASCII radio button before transferring text files(.htm, .html, .txt, etc.)

5. Click on the arrow pointing to the right pane-Remote System to transfer these files to your WEBDSK: or W3DSK: account.

6. The file transfer is done when "Transfer completed" is displayed in the gray status box at the bottom of the window.

7. Before closing WS_FTP, verify the upload success by using the Netscape browser to view your personal webpage at:

http://mauicc.hawaii.edu/staff/<username>/<filename>

where <username> is your MCC Computing username
and <filename> is the name of the file that you’ve uploaded

or, your campus-unit webpage at:

http://mauicc.hawaii.edu/unit/<campus-unit webpage name>/<filename>

where <campus-unit webpage name> is the campus-unit webpage
for which you have authoring privileges
and <filename> is the name of the file(s) that you’ve uploaded.

 

8. Reminder: Only create new folders (or directories) using the webmaker command after logging in to the MCC server with a terminal program like QVT or Telnet. Do not create folders or directories using Samba or WS_FTP.
