Dr. Bresciani presentation
|
· Yesterday’s presentation discussed: Dr. Bresciani recommends assessing student knowledge rather than student behavior in the class. · Need to use data to find out the following: 1. Why students are taking classes, but are not graduating 2. Why students delay taking math at Maui CC longer than at any other UHCC campus. |
Alvin asked to inquire with counselors if they are guiding students to register in math in their early semesters |

Energy update |
1. Update on ESCO: a. Three vendors remaining with ability to service the college. b. Purchase power agreement (PPA) would be entered with vendor, freezing Maui CC’s energy costs. c. Vendor responsible for finding private investors that will want to take advantage of the tax breaks in order to leverage the cost of energy generating initiatives (PV panels and wind turbine). d. Office of Naval Research will provide equipment to monitor and measure energy output on panels. (Should be occurring during this semester). 2. Risks: New technologies in the future may drive the costs of renewable energy down lower than PPA with a vendor at the set rate. 3. Windmills: Because there is no electricity storage, windmills are not used at night when energy use is lower. 4. PUC is considering “Feed in Tariff” a. Distributive power b. Wheeling – allows us to generate power offsite Project $2 million for Maui CC’s Energy Costs AC currently down in Ka Lama 108; parts ordered |
