Students come from all over the world to study Hospitality & Tourism at the UHMC. In addition to Hawaii residents and students from the U.S. mainland, the program attracts individuals from Japan, Philippines, China, and Canada. Students at UHMC have the opportunity to immerse themselves in our host culture and learn about a unique brand of hospitality. Site visitations and career shadowing opportunities are integrated in class sessions to allow students to experience hotel/resort operations firsthand and to network with industry leaders.
My 7-month internship on Maui was a life changing experience. Not only had I learned the hotel operations and management skills at Makena Beach & Golf Resort, I also got to experience the true Aloha spirit and give out Aloha to everyone, internal and external guests, which is the most treasured thing I've learned. This wonderful experience at UHMC and on Maui helped me grow to be more mature and independent. It encouraged me to be dedicated to the hospitality industry and enabled me to excel in my current position at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai.
Yvonne Gu, Sales Executive, Grant Hyatt Shanghai
The Hospitality Program provides me with great opportunities. I enjoy the “ohana” system we the students and faculty have formed as we continue to all move forward and succeed together.

The reason I chose the University of Hawaii at Maui College, Hospitality & Tourism program is because tourism is Hawaii’s future. I have been able to learn so much about the industry while networking with many leaders in the industry while being a part of the program.
I chose to move from California to attend the University of Hawaii at Maui College to learn and experience the true meaning of tourism, which Maui can provide.
