There’s nothing like enjoying a taco on a Tuesday with all your closest friends.  Fred’s Mexican Café is the perfect place for Taco Tuesday and good company. From delicious margaritas to a wide variety of amazing Mexican cuisine, there’s something for everyone. The café offers drinks, appetizers, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas and much more. Every day is great at Fred’s, but the best day is Tuesday, also known as Taco Tuesday. Each Tuesday, Fred’s offers discount prices on their tacos as well as on their house margaritas, which are half price.

The Fred’s staff is really friendly and efficient. The crew, especially the manager, work together efficiently to maintain the busy restaurant. During the day, it’s “seat yourself” but later at night the staff begins to seat people because the bar and restaurant get very busy for dinner.

The restaurant itself is unique and has a traditional Mexican theme. Seating is available indoors, outdoors, or at the bar. The menu includes a wide variety of Mexican and American fare, including a kids menu. The environment is friendly to locals and tourists of all ages. Even dogs are welcome at Fred’s!Freds3

Fred’s has a good sized, wide open bar that serves all sorts of alcoholic beverages. From tequila shots to strawberry house margaritas, you can’t go wrong. Fred’s serves fresh tortilla chips with salsa, which is good accompanied by their slightly spicy queso dip. On the menu you’ll find tacos of all sorts: pollo asado, chicken breast, carnitas, carne asada, pescado, calamari steak, Cajun shrimp, ground beef and more. The tacos can be ordered a la carte or as combination plates with rice and beans.  The tacos are all made with equally proportional ingredients that will delight your taste buds.  The ground beef taco is made with tasty dripping grease and lettuce pouring out the sides. The lettuce is fresh and vibrant green.  The tomatoes are as red as a fire truck.  The beef is browned to perfection.

Freds2Some of the most delicious plates are also the largest and hottest dishes. The carne asada steak burrito is served with a huge serving of beans and rice inside a soft warm tortilla wrap.  The ingredients are well mixed and proportional to each other. The burrito is topped with cheese and a red sauce.

Another amazing dish is the shrimp fajitas which is served sizzling hot and steaming. The fajita dish is filled with lots of flavor and colors, like red, yellow, and green peppers and well cooked shrimp.  The dish is served such that you build your own fajita on a small flour tortilla. Overall the plate was delicious and not too spicy.Freds

To finish off your Mexican cuisine experience at Fred’s you have to try one of their rich desserts. Freshly made churros tossed in cinnamon and sugar are served hot but miss their delicious chocolate diablo. Topped in whipped cream, this rich chocolate mousse filled brownie will satisfy any chocolate craving. For those who prefer something creamier, you can try the flan with caramel topping.

Fred’s is a great place for friends and families of all sizes to hangout sea side and enjoy a delicious meal. Whether it’s for drinks, breakfast or dinner, Fred’s Mexican Café is a great place to relax and get refreshed. The next time you find yourself in Kihei make sure to check out Fred’s, located at 2511 South Kihei Rd., across from Kamaolé Beach Park 2.
