Mark Yamanaka will be visiting up on Friday, January 31. Mark’s  talent has been nurtured from a young age by renowned musician, composer and kumu hula, Johnny Lum Ho, whose traditions produced some of Hawai‘i’s most cherished Hawaiian falsetto singers like Darren Benitez and Nā Palapalai’s Kuana Torres Kahele. His 2011 debut “Lei Puakenikeni” won the Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards for Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Most Promising New Artist. He recently released his second CD, “Lei Maile.” Mark will be performing at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center that evening. Please contact the MACC box office for more information.

mzi.kxhlwiry.170x170-75Raiatea Helm and Bryan Tolentino will be joining us on Saturday to discuss vocal and instrumental performance, singing, and other aspects of being a professional musician and performaner. Raiatea is a multi Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner and two time Grammy Award nominee who hails from the island of Moloka‘i, and is a former UH-Maui College student (back when it was still Maui Community College). Raiatea will be joined by the amazing ‘ukulele stylist Bryan Tolentino. Raiatea and Bryan will be performing at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center on Saturday evening.
