The Institute of Hawaiian Music is a one-of-a-kind musical mentorship program that is dedicated to the perpetuation and preservation of Hawaiian music through establishing mentor relationships with professional Hawaiian musicians.

Currently, many aspiring Hawaiian musicians are mostly left to their own devices to receive personal training on their musicianship, produce a recording, and knowing the steps necessary to break into the industry. Many fail to reach their true potential as successful performing artists without receiving career guidance from professional & experienced musicians.

The Institute of Hawaiian Music (IHM) is changing this situation by actively seeking out ambitious musicians and formalizing their musical mentor relationships with professional Hawaiian musicians. Students selected for the IHM cohort will receive personal training, guidance, and knowledge through these mentor-mentee relationships with experienced Hawaiian musicians that would normally not be available.

The talented and motivated musicians selected for the IHM will enroll in courses designed to build their knowledge of the professional Hawaiian music industry. IHM graduates will be well-trained performers specializing in Hawaiian music improving their likelihood of success with the establishment of independent careers that pay a living wage.
