It’s been a busy summer for those of us in the Institute of Hawaiian Music. Many of our students spent the summer rehearsing with their groups and performing at venues around Hawai‘i. We’re grateful to the individuals, groups, organizations, and companies that have supported us and provided performance opportunities for our students.
We do have performances the next three Fridays in August – August 1, 8 and 15, 2014, at the lobby of the Kea Lani Resort in Wailea from 4:30-5:30PM. Admission is free, and all are welcomed to join us. We will also be joining Uncle George Kahumoku at the Moonlight Mele concert at the Bailey House Museum in Wailuku on Saturday, August 9, 7-9PM. Gates open at 5 pm and concert starts at 7 pm. General admission is $20, Kama‘āina $10, 12 & under Free. For more information, call 244-3326 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are about three weeks from the start of the Fall semester. We did not hold full auditions for the fall, but will be adding a few new and well-prepared students to our current group. Our next auditions will be held in Spring 2015, for students who wish to start the program in Fall 2015. Please stay tuned for future announcements as we move forward into the future!
