I’m Ben Guerrero and I’ve been an educator for nearly 20 years! I’ve also been a fast food restaurant employee, tutor, a maintenance worker, a mentor, a waiter, a counselor, a car rental agent, a teacher, a supervisor, a grocery store cashier, and currently am the Project Director for the Title III grant we call Kaiao.
I’m an alumni of UH Maui College (formerly called Maui Community College) and earned my Liberal Arts degree in 1989 before transferring to UH Hilo where I earned by Bachelors degree in English in 1992. I then transferred to UH Manoa and earned My Masters degree in English in 1995.
I am a father of 4 kids, three boys and one girl. I am also a grandpa of one boy, Judah, and one girl, Brianna, pictured with me at Kohos.
I like to travel to foreign countries and have visited Canada, Mexico, France, England, Italy, Switzerland, and New Zealand and was born in Japan. I play video games and have watched thousands of movies and like to swim.
I believe that all of us serve a higher purpose and I’ve dedicated my life to teaching others and learning from others as well.
I hope that I and all our staff will help to find a way to be a facilitator to our students, to help them find their way to achievement, excellence and success in and outside of college. Come by my office any time in the Multi-Purpose building right next to the UH Co-op Extension to talk story!
Aloha and a hui hou!
