I am Kalei Johnson and I am the UHMC Student Support Specialist for Mu‘o A‘e. I am the eldest of six children, and a graduate of the Kula Kaiapuni ‘O Maui Hawaiian Immersion Language Program in 2005. I attended Brigham Young University in Lā‘ie and obtained my Bachelors of Art in Hawaiian Studies in 2008. I have had many different occupations that have involved education and Hawaiian language and culture, and have worked with students from pre-school to high school. I am humbled to have the opportunity to work with students in a university setting. E kalamai if I refer to students as “kids” sometimes, I’m so used to teaching those that are way younger than me!
I’m a total animal lover, and have two husky/malamute mixes the boy is Ka‘ie and his sister is Ku‘ali, a rabbit named Ke‘o. On my spare time I enjoy gaming (MMOs), listening to music, reading, drawing, making crafts, watching movies, tv shows, anime, and hanging out with my family and friends. I’m pretty friendly and try my best to remember everyone’s name. Don’t be ashamed or afraid to approach me if you have any questions or need help with anything! Mahalo a nui.
