What is IntraSystem Loan (ISL)?

The purpose of IntraSystem Loan is to obtain books and materials needed for researce for UHMC students, faculty, and staff from other University of Hawaii System libraries when those materials are not available at UHMC.

Plan ahead! Loans usually arrive in one week, but may take much longer.

How Long Does It Take?

Photocopies of journal articles and book loans: 5 working days (average, this may be longer) plus transit time.

How Much Does It Cost?

• Books: $1 each item requested
• Documents (journal articles, book chapters, etc.): $1 each item requested; if printed, an additional 15¢ per page (e.g., a 15 page item would cost $2.50).
• Media (CDs, DVDs): $3 each item requested

You must pay for items even if you do not pick them up. All item charges will be recorded in your library account.

UHMC students, faculty and staff.

How Do I Make ISL Requests?

1. Search the UH Libraries' online catalog, Hawaii Voyager.
2. Make sure that the full record for the item displays.
3. If the needed research materials are NOT available (not owned, checked out) at UHMC, click the Get This Item link at the top right of the page.
4. Log into your UH account.
5. Click Hold or Transfer this item.
6. Select the copy you want..
7. Select Maui CC from the Pick up at: dropdown menu.
8. If you need help, ask a librarian.

How Will I Know My ISL Request Is Ready for Pickup?

You will be notified by email.

Where Do I Pick Up Book Loans

Book loans may be picked up only at the UHMC Library circulation desk

How Do I Receive Filled Document Requests?

We make every effort to deliver documents electronically to you. You will receive an email with a PDF attachment. PDF attachments may be viewed using an up-to-date Internet browser the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in.

In some cases you may be required to pick your document at the UHMC circulation desk.
