Equipped with shovels, picks, trowels and garden gloves, over sixty volunteers gathered on campus March 25th to help transform U.H. Maui College’s presence for our student body and community.
217 small multicolor bougainvillea were planted along the Ka’ahumanu Avenue berm to form a flower corridor, which, when grown, could be the longest frontage of flowers in Kahului. Due to the high turnout of volunteers, the planting was complete in one hour at which time participants were treated to coffee, juice, fruit and beautiful pastries.
Chancellor Sakamoto said, “to our faculty, staff and students, my sincere thanks for your time and participation in adding to the beauty of our university campus on Maui.”
