Important Information for first-time college students

First step is to apply to the UH system. Application available

After you are accepted, you can register for classes. Every semester the ECED class offerings change. Contact program coordinator, Julie Powers (984-4391 or by email at [email protected]) or counselor assigned to you for academic advising.

A “full-time” student is taking at least 12 credits (4 three-credit courses) a semester. It will take you about three years to complete the Associate’s degree if you take 12 credits a semester. Expect to spend at least 6-9 hours per week on each three credit class (in person or online).

Most students who are working and have families take one or two courses a semester. Start with one course if you are not sure about how you will balance work, family and school.
