A word from Cynthia Foreman, Faculty Advisor   Student Government Candidates Danette Arrojo Candidate for President of Student Council “I am very passionate about the voices of the students, encouraging students to be a part of student government, and advocating for students on the student council level as well as on the student caucus level, and leading into the Legislative process. I am enthusiastic about serving students, obtaining their needs, and listening to any suggestions that students may have. I believe that all students should know what is going on in their student council and I urge all students to come and sit in on our meetings. MEET THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT COUNCIL 2015-2016 Natalie “Tasha” Kama, President - Resume for Tasha I am interested in running for the position of President of the Student Government Council. I meet the requirements as set forth in the ASUHMC charter. I have served as a member of the council for 2 years in various capacities and have maintained a GPA of 2.5 or better. I represented the council on the Chancellor’s Search Committee, the Math task force, and the Achieving the Dream (Student Success) Committee. I have represented the council at the Executive, Strategic Planning, and various committees on campus when no other representation was available. I was appointed to serve as the secretary this semester. I would like to engage a larger student audience to participate in the advocacy, leadership, and policy of the ASUHMC. As the President, I would work with the newly formed Student Activities Council to support their mission. I would like to strengthen the leadership of the clubs on campus by engaging them in more leadership activities and trainings. And I would like to increase the number of registered voters on this campus. Thank you for this opportunity to participate in this civic responsibility. ELECTIONS THIS WEEK - MEET THE CANDIDATES  Student Government  The governing body of ASUHMC is a Government Council composed of a minimum of 5 Council members and a maximum of 11 Council members. There are 4 Executive Council Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Plus 2 University of Hawaii Student Caucus Representatives that work collaboratively statewide with other University of Hawai’i campus Student Governments. The Government Council shall be responsible for the enforcement of the Charter and the promotion of student participation in advocacy, leadership, and policy. The Government Council will perform all the duties assigned within the Charter.The Government Council shall be the approving authority for all appointments by the President, as well as annual budget adoption and expenditures. The Government Council shall maintain authority over ASUHMC funds and assets. MISSION: We, the Associated Students of University of Hawaii Maui College, seek to represent and honor the voice of every student at Maui College. This Council is committed to creating a dynamic student life on campus. The events and activities that we plan will be focused on providing fun and educational opportunities for our students. ASUHMC is also committed to the ethical administering of student fees which includes obtaining input from all students. VISION: The vision of the ASUHMC Student Governance Council of Maui College is to serve as the students’ voice. Student needs are our priority. Every decision, event, and activity is developed to serve the students that we represent. Student Activities Council

Student Activities Council (Chartered Student Organization) Student Government and Student Activities Council Fall Leadership Training 2015   What is SAC? SAC, Student Activities Council, is a Chartered Student Organization at the University of Hawai'i at Maui College. We provide programs, activities, and services which serve the co-curricular cultural, social, recreational and educational interest of students at UHMC. We seek to contribute to the development of students' leadership skills and experience, program planning and development, volunteering and fiscal management. What is SAC looking for? We want students who have a positive personality, are well rounded, and organized. We are looking for UHMC students that hold a 2.5 GPA or higher. We also prefer you to have a flexible schedule that will let you attend weekly SAC meetings, help coordinate and attend SAC events.  How Do I Become a Student Activities Council Member? View / Print required forms or stop by the Student Life Office to pick up a packet: SAC Nomination Packet Turn in completed forms and other required documents to the Student Life Office. Weekly Meetings Student Activities Council meetings are open to the UHMC community and we want to see you there!
