Important Information for Commencement 2014

Graduation Letter:

A Graduation Letter has been sent out to all graduating students who turned in their Graduation Application. Graduation Letter includes the following: 

  1. Graduation Memo – Outlining important points of Commencement
  2. Photo & Announcement Order Form 
  3. Commencement Ceremony DVD Order Form 
  4. Graduation Response Sheet – Must be completed and turned in to the Student Life Office – 2cd Floor Pilina Building – by May 9th, 2014. Response sheet is the graduates confirmation if they will be attending or unable to attend the commencement ceremony.

Order Your Announcements & Photos:

There will be individual and group picture taking available prior to Commencement on May 18, 2014. Announcements are also available – coordinated by Nagamine Photo Studio.

Nagamine order forms are also included in the Graduation Letter. Those forms are to be turned in to Nagamine on the day of Commencement. 

Deadline to order Graduation Announcements is April 18, 2014. Announcements will be available for pick-up at the UHMC Student Life Office beginning April 24, 2014

Order your Regalia:

All graduating students must purchase a regalia in order to participate in Commencement.

**Phi Theta Kappa students must be on the PTK list and present their Student ID in order to purchase a PTK regalia. Please contact Ellen Peterson for more details at epeterso@hawaii.edu. All items may be sold separately. While supplies last! 

Commencement Ceremony Requirements & Dress Code: 

  •  Black Cap and Gown – Must be worn during ceremony. Please note that if cap & gown is not worn, student will be unable to participate in ceremony. Casual/Business Attire to be worn under gown.  Culinary Chef jackets will be allowed in place of the gown.
  • Footwear Required – Heel Height Maximum: 3 Inches or Less.
  • Leis of all manners (neck and head) may NOT be worn during ceremony .
  • Personal Items are NOT allowed during ceremony – Graduates will be unable to carry personal items (purses, bags, wallets, signs, folders, etc.) as there is no stage area or storage for your personal items. 
  • Cell Phones Must Be Turned OFF During the Entire Ceremony.
