Remote eCOMPASS Testing Request

To schedule an eCOMPASS testing session at your location, please use this form to schedule an appointment.

This form is only to be used by locations that have been registered as a testing site with UHMC The Learning Center. To be set up as a testing site, please contact Debbie Winkler at mcc-tlc@lists.hawaii.edu.

ACT Proctoring

The Learning Center (testing center code 0909) is a licensed proctoring site for ACT Certification Exam proctoring. Please coordinate testing times with ACT. ACT Test proctoring is administered on Thursdays throughout the year.

Government issued photo identification is required to administer an exam. All personal items must be checked-in at the reception desk counter. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled exam time.

Community Proctoring

Non-University of Hawaii System School Proctoring:

For students enrolled in a college outside of the UH System, The Learning Center provides fee-for-service proctoring. Exam proctoring is $25 per exam hour, and payable in cash or check made out to The University of Hawaii.

Proctoring requires an appointment. Testing appointments must be requested at minimally 1 (one) week ahead of requested testing date. Please use this form to request an appointment to schedule an exam.

UH Distance Exam Proctoring

The Learning Center provides University of Hawaii Distance Education Faculty with exam proctoring services. All students must make prior arrangements with their instructors to take exams at The Learning Center.

For Distance Education Students:

To take an exam, students are required to provide a form of government issued photo identification, and any required materials for the exam.

The Learning Center provides a storage area for student’s personal items. Any items prohibited by the instructor of the exam must be checked-in at the reception front-desk.

Appointments are not needed to take an exam, but please be aware of The Learning Center hours and the open dates of the exam. If Special Needs accommodations are requested, please notify The Learning Center staff prior to taking the exam.

Academic dishonesty cannot be condoned by the University. Such dishonesty includes cheating and plagiarism (examples of which follow) which violate the Student Conduct Code and may result in expulsion from the University. Cheating includes but is not limited to giving unauthorized help during an examination, obtaining unauthorized information about an examination before it is administered, using inappropriate sources of information during an examination, altering the record of any grade, altering answers after an examination has been submitted, falsifying any official University record, and misrepresenting the facts in order to obtain exemptions from course requirements.

COMPASS Placement Testing

COMPASS® – Computer-Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System is a comprehensive software package developed to help post-secondary institutions place students into appropriate course levels. It is divided into two areas: English, with a Reading section and Writing section, and Math. A printable version of COMPASS information is available.

COMPASS Testing

COMPASS Placement Testing is administered at The Learning Center during our regular hours of operation. On average, the test takes from 1 – 2 hours.

Please bring the following items with you to take the placement test:

  1. Government Issued Photo Identification. ie drivers license, passort, high school identification card, state-issued identification, military identification.
  2. University of Hawaii Student Identification Number (UH ID Number). if you do not have an UH ID Number, please use this form to obtain one.

The Learning Center does provide calculators, and pencil and paper for the MATH section.

For Out-of-State COMPASS Testing

For accepted Out-of-State students, your UH ID Number will be listed on your acceptance letter.

For out-of-state students intending to enroll at UH MC, please do the following to schedule a COMPASS Placement test:

  1. Locate and contact an ACT test center in your area. You may go to the following link to locate a site. http://www.act.org/compass/sites/index.html
  2. Email uhmc-test@lists.hawaii.edu the following information so a COMPASS registration number can be set up:
