COMPASS® placement tests



COMPASS® is a computer-adaptive English and math placement testing system that helps place students into appropriate courses in college. It is offered on a walk-in basis throughout most of the year. Anyone may take either or both English and math placement tests.The English portion consists of reading and writing and averages 1 1/2 - 2 hrs while the math portion averages 1/2 - 1 hr.

A photo ID must be presented before taking the test. Preparation books are sold at the MCC Bookstore and are also available to view at the TLC. Tutoring is also offered to prepare for the test.

Make-up tests and tests from distance education courses can be arranged to be taken at The Learning Center.

Teachers at MCC and other community colleges may use our web-based Instruction Form for the Learning Center to administer tests for their students.
