About Us

Situated on one of the most beautiful islands in the world, the University of Hawai'i Maui College (UHMC) is an accredited degree-granting college that offers three bachelor of applied science degrees, a wide variety of associate degrees and certificates, as well as distance learning degrees through its UH Center on campus.

With small class sizes, a high student to faculty ratio, and career counseling, UHMC students enjoy personalized, individual attention and the support they need to be successful in college, and beyond. Students can transfer into bachelor or master degree programs at other University of Hawaiʻi institutions, or transfer credits to accredited colleges and universities.

Our vibrant, multicultural campus is centrally located on Maui, and is about a half mile from the airport with easy access to world-class beaches, ocean activities and surfing.

Learning that’s Real

Real Experience: Integrate your education with real-world experience. UHMC students work with equipment in astronomy labs, produce programs for a cable TV station, treat patients and at local clinics and hospitals, and cater events at five-star resorts.

Real Connections: Our CareerLink office matches students with career shadowing opportunities, internships, and volunteer work.  This gives you the opportunity to experience what your career path will really be like, while building relationships to bridge success after graduation. In 2008, UHMC won the national 2008 Bellwether Award for workforce development, and we’re proud to partner with many Maui businesses to provide job placement for our students.

Real Value: Hawaiian residents pay just $101/credit for lower division classes, and non-residents pay $400/credit for lower division classes – an affordable option compared to most college tuition costs.  Last year over 55% of UHMC students qualified for and received some kind of financial aid, with over $9 million awarded in scholarships and grants. Contact our financial aid office to see if you’re eligible.

Real diversity: Join a diverse group of students and faculty celebrating the traditions, histories and cultures of people from across the world.  UHMC has one of the largest student populations of Native Hawaiians, thriving cultural clubs like Kabatak (Filipino Club), and community events like the Maui Matsuri Festival.  Wherever you’re from, you’ll find a warm welcome and an invitation to immerse yourself in new cultural experiences.

Real Flexible: Part-time, full-time, or online, you’ll find that UHMC offers higher education options to fit your needs.   Our academic counselors can help you build a schedule of blended in person and online courses to help you reach your goals. Students living in other parts of Maui County can take classes virtually, and through the campus’ UH Center students can earn Bachelor’s Degrees and Master’s degrees from other campuses in the University of Hawai’i System.

Real Fun: Stay fit and have fun. The UHMC Wellness Center offers hands-on, interactive fitness classes on everything from Yoga to Freestyle Core Training, or you can join one of our intramural sports teams. Learn Hawaiian canoe-paddling and compete in our annual regatta, join Phi Theta Kappa, Hui Lei Ola, or the Peace Club and participate in activities representing a variety of interests and cultural perspectives.  The campus is centrally located on Maui, and is about a half mile from the airport with easy access to:
