Interested in earning an Associate in Arts (A.A.) in Liberal Arts, but don’t have time for college? Now you can earn you’re A.A. degree by attending college on weekends!
The Weekend College offers students an opportunity to earn an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree in liberal arts by attending classes on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. Two eight-week-long classes are offered each semester. This flexible, accelerated schedule enables students to attend college while also fulfilling career and family responsibilities.
Weekend College classes are held on the UH Maui College campus and are taught by UH Maui College instructors. Students are provided with a full array of support services.
Students who place in English 100, students who have completed English 22, or students who have prior college credits are eligible to attend Weekend College classes. Students ordinarily enter the program as part of a group or cohort of students.
The A.A. Liberal Arts degree consists of a minimum of 60 credits (20 classes) numbered 100 level or higher. An articulated Associate in Arts degree from UH Maui College satisfies the general education core requirements at all other University of Hawai‘i campuses. Weekend College students can use the degree as a stepping stone for transfer into bachelor’s programs at UH Maui College or elsewhere.
Weekend College graduates who want to earn bachelor’s degrees can do so without leaving Maui. In addition to four-year degrees offered by UH Maui College, the University of Hawai‘i Center, Maui uses distance learning technologies to bring select bachelor’s and graduate degrees from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, Hilo, and West O‘ahu to Maui County residents. The programs are designed for working adults and are offered through on-site courses, interactive television, and/or over the Internet.
