Academic Counseling

"Academic Advising is an educational process that, by intention and design, facilitates students' understanding of the meaning and purpose of higher education and fosters their intellectual and personal development toward academic success and lifelong learning"
National Academic Advising Association, 2004

Academic counseling is an important way for you to obtain information about the college programs, services, and resources that are available for you. Through advising, you will receive the help in decision making and problem solving.

Counselors assist students in planning their program of study and in selecting courses. They provide important information about course placement, prerequisites, course sequence, and registration and transfer information.

By meeting with your academic advisor regularly and often, you will be able to figure out what is needed to make the best out of your academic journey, create a plan so that you can graduate on time, and navigate through the system to learn what is needed to transform your dreams into reality.

Advisors and students share equally in the work of advising, from researching answers to creating academic plans. To get started, click here to find out who your academic advisors are and how to contact them.
