Chancellor Sakamoto Legacy Scholarship Campaign

Chancellor Legacy Gala Dinner at Hyatt Regency Ka‘anapali on May 26 2013>

From the Chancellor’s Advisory Council:

The Chancellor’s Advisory Council is pleased to announce a special endowment campaign, the Chancellor’s Legacy Campaign, in honor of the 40 years of leadership that Chancellor Clyde Sakamoto has provided to UH Maui College. Chancellor Sakamoto worked tirelessly to support students to contribute to strengthening Maui County’s economy through higher education.

Maui No Ka Oi Magazine’s Essay: Island Portrait: Visionary — For Thirty Years, Dr. Clyde Sakamoto Has Been Moving Maui’s College Forward — In Many Directions At Once.

This legacy campaign will support that vision in perpetuity through the Sakamoto Scholarship for Academic Leadership and the Chancellor’s Award for Entrepreneurial Innovation. Our goal is to raise $500,000 to fully fund these endowments.

The campaign culminated with a Gala Dinner on May 26 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Ka‘anapali, Maui. At that time, the endowment was announced and presented to Chancellor Sakamoto in appreciation of his lifelong service to our community.

It is our hope that you will join us in this endeavor. We need your help.

We hope to secure gifts from College Supporters, and we need your help. We have asked for 100% participation from our present Chancellor’s Advisory Council and have asked them to enlist broad community support.

Your generosity will continue UHMC’s transformation and improve student futures. This is a one-time campaign and our opportunity to say mahalo to Chancellor Sakamoto. In lieu of personal recognition, he requested that this endowment be created to serve UH Maui College and the Maui County community. This is our opportunity to support his wishes and demonstrate how much we value his contribution and vision.

Additionally we ask that you identify any individuals, corporations, or foundations that you would suggest we contact about the Chancellor’s Legacy Campaign.

Your consideration of a contribution would be greatly appreciated.
