SUMMER COMPONENT

THE RESIDENTIAL SUMMER PROGRAM

Upward Bound provides a 6-week summer residential program for students to experience college.  The goal of the summer program is for students not only to prepare themselves academically for college, but to gain independent living skills and confidence to continue onto college after high school graduation.  This unique experience can change student’s lives!

For six weeks, students are immersed in:

  • Core Academic Courses: Math, Lab Science, Writing/Composition, Foreign Language, Literature
  • Extracurricular Courses: Computer Technology, Nutritional Science, Current/World Topics & Debate
  • Study skill development and time management
  • Work study and career exploration
  • Cultural, recreational, and social activities to build teamwork, provide individual challenge, and to have fun!
  • Senior Bridge: High school seniors will enroll in college classes
  • Multi-cultural workshops and activities
  • College planning and preparation
  • Motivational and personal advising
  • Independent living experience (supervised dorm/apartment living)

Applications now being accepted for the Upward Bound program.  Returning students must complete summer program paperwork and permissions each year.  Returning student forms for summer due May 20, 2013–to be posted and mailed to students soon!
