Attention music students, this one is for you! (And everyone who loves to feel the power of music touch their hearts.) Join renowned, Grammy-nominated Hawaiian musician Keola Beamer and Na Hoku Hanahano-nominated musician Cindy Paulos for a double CD release party and film screening of Thomas Vendetti’s film His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The event takes place this Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the Makawao Union Church from 6pm – 9pm.

Himalayan Sessions CD is composed of music recorded with local musicians on location in Tibet and Bhutan, Nepal with the dynamic music of Keola Beamer, Paul Horn, (a pioneer of world music) and Christopher Hedge, who was awarded two Emmy’s for the soundtrack Bhutan – Taking the Middle Path to Happiness. Himalayan Sounds has a special guest on four of the songs, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, sharing his immutable spirit of happiness, joy, and wisdom.  The album as a whole respectfully expresses the desire for the people of Tibet to be reunited with their homeland.

Cindy Paulos’ CD, The Gift of Hope, is the 7th from this longtime Maui resident.  It has been nominated for 5 Na Hoku Hanohano awards! Cindy is also a long-time radio announcer, whose voice you may recognize, and one of the producers on the CD. This is one truly talented Maui lady. The artwork is by a former Maui resident, Andrea Smith. As the title suggests, this CD, which features several musicians, is composed of music to spread the spirit of peace and hope to all.

Both CDs are being submitted to the Grammys for consideration.  Let’s all send our Musical Maui Ohana an island rainbow of good wishes for the Grammys, as well as hope for bringing beauty into the world through music dedicated to the well-being of all people.

You can meet and greet the musicians and filmmaker at 6pm, followed by the 7 pm screening of the film. Tickets are $15 at the door, or ahead of time, and for each pair of tickets sold a free gift of The Gift of Hope CD will be given.
