“Haloa” by Cherith Joao

“Haloa” by Cherith Joao
November 6, 2017 Nā Leo Literary Review

Title: “Haloa”
Artist: Cherith Joao
Medium: Copic Markers
Note from the artist: “Haloanakalaukapalili the elder sibling or Kalo of the land, nurture the Hawaiian people as Haloa the younger sibling takes care of the Kalo. As Haloa continues his Kuleana he represents the first Hawaiian. He is looked upon by all the generations before him. The Hokule’a sails to these distant generations or Hawaii Islands, where the mountains and the ocean became our purpose so we all could love these lands and live.”
