YOU AND I
KAI DIGNEY
As I sit up in bed late at night
working hard at homework,
your consistent breathing relaxes me
Of all my frustrations of the day.
I met you in high school when you first moved here,
and now I lie here with you
almost three years later.
Your elegant features,
your dimples and freckles,
Always bring a chuckle and a delight to me
even to this day.
From relaxed facial muscles, closed eyes,
parted lips, and soft breaths
Comes such comfort.
