SUMMER HAS FALLEN
Marisa Natoli
In the hour of severance,
My body expels the sufferance of your departure.
By far,
You must be reaping successes
As you sneer at failure.
Dark clouds swirl at your feet,
Black soot surges in the air,
A shadowy veil secures your face,
And you rise from the pits of your motionless existence.
I watch from the dusty hillside
And yearn for your entanglement,
Bellow from the depths of my aching stomach.
An aura of red glow paints my fickle body.
I press myself over the ledge,
My head dangling over a wrathful sky,
Burgundy clouds, and the tangerine sun
Rivals my cry for your intimate intentions.
But your mouth is bound,
Your hands secured.
Your eyes,
Tender and honorable,
Gaze at my weeping sorrowful soul.
Summer has fallen now.
Evening settles a weary cape over the sun
As droplets of wine streak down the flush of my cheek.
In my plea for one last farewell,
I fall to my knees at your doorstep,
My hands joined in a sacred manner,
Hoping for one last chance
To send you off in a mournful goodbye.
