How to Find Love in a Doorway?

By Toni Hoberecht

Take a crystal moon and drive west.

Take a dusty road trip,

A brilliant frosty carpet ride,

A stony vertical ascent.

Does her luminescence peak from behind the forehead of a new day?

She cantors like a vigorous gypsy.

You can see her from the passenger seat of a Beige 1989 Isuzu trooper.

On curvy desserts,

Muted behind grey mountain crags.

Unwind,

Listen to Mariachi and gaze the rooftop sunset.

How can we face the crimson sand stone wall?

With Salamander fingers grips that powder noses on slick rock faces.

Is there novelty in the chartreuse inchworm of the Adirondacks?

At the 8,000-foot base of cable leading toward the pearly gates.

Hunched slightly and lightly,

A chimpanzee in flight.

Wherever is everyplace?

Somewhere.

Twinkling.
