SUNSET AT A BEACH IN LAHAINA
By Micah Borge
Crashing waves on the left
try to consume the rest
of the pebble-covered shoreline.
While the sand on the right is cascaded by
many lightly pressed footsteps.
Some tree roots are angry
and pierce the sand’s grainy blankie.
The bright orange sunset,
sitting in the middle of its watery bed,
has a dreary mindset.
Falling asleep faster than ever,
The sun realizes it can’t stay bright forever.
The cotton-candy clouds,
sparsely scattered throughout the orange infinite sky,
are also finally packed and ready to say goodbye.
