Nā Leo is proud to announce the September 2019 Student of the Month Miya Sylva!
Miya Sylva is a smart, intelligent, and artistic student born and raised on the island of Maui.
Miya has two people who has inspired her photography, her mom, Ivy Sylva, and her cousin, Lexy Cabos. Both Miya’s mom and cousin have experience with cameras and photography. Her cousin, Lexy, is the one who taught her how to use a camera.
It is of no surprise that Miya is passionate about her family, and believes that “family will always be there for you no matter what may happen.”
As September’s Contest Winner, Miya decided to share the story behind her winning piece “Morning Views“:
“I went on a field trip with my Hawaiian Language class to Haleakalā in the morning & we chanted till the sun came up. I captured this moment after we finished our chant & the scenery was beyond fascinating!”
We are beyond honored to showcase the amazing photography of Miya Sylva!
