“Road to Hana” by Sophia Bartkus

“Road to Hana” by Sophia Bartkus
December 10, 2019 Nā Leo Literary Review

Twists, turns, and bridges,

Life is always throwing you for a loop.

Decisions so nerve-racking you feel

Like you’re hanging off the side of a cliff.

Happiness comes in colorful rainbows,

Tears like waterfalls, never ending

Yet naturally beautiful.

A trek so long it feels like it never ends,

In awe of the beauty around you the entire time.

Stopping along the way for a hike, banana bread,

Ice cream, black sand beaches, and the wonders of the world.

Sweet, salty, endless, but incredible nonetheless.

The destination is what you may search for,

But it’s the journey that’s truly to remember.
