Course Evaluations
Student evaluations are a means for students to provide feedback to teachers about the course and about the teacher's delivery of the course. Faculty members are required to have student evaluations in all classes they teach.

Teachers choose an approved UH system student evaluation form from among those available with unit secretaries. Once a form is chosen, it should be used consistently.

  • Someone other than the teacher being evaluated handles student evaluations; the teacher leaves the classroom during the evaluation process.
  • Student evaluations can be given at any time during the semester; they are most often administered 1-2 weeks before the end of the semester.
  • A hard copy of the summary report is given to the faculty member and to the unit chair after grades have been submitted.
Procedure:
  1. About a month and a half before the semester ends, see your unit secretary for approved evaluation forms. Choose the form most appropriate for your class; this is the one you will continue to use each semester.
  2. Contact Pat Adams adamspati@hawaii.edu, 984-3376 to arrange student evaluations for your distance class. She will coordinate the evaluations at all your sites and her secretary will create the summary report.
