The Good Place Isn’t So Good After All…
December 9, 2019 Kili'ohu Robis

The Good Place is an American fantasy comedy show that’s based on the afterlife. One of the actors, Ted Danson, plays a diabolical architect named Michael who made the ‘perfect utopia’ for people to live in during the afterlife. Danson was recently arrested at the U.S Capital for demonstrating on behalf of climate change protest, along with celebrity Jane Fonda. Different celebrities and activists joined Fonda for a rally outside the U.S capitol with speakers and musicians. Danson is a beloved celebrity just like Jane Fonda, and as they were arrested on October 25th, 2019, Danson was found smiling at the scene knowing well that he had made an impact on his fans.

Fonda’s Fire Drill Fridays is an activist group that Jane Fonda began to raise awareness for climate change, hoping to spread more awareness around the world. She was inspired by young Greta Thunburg, who is a 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist on climate change. Greta’s campaign has gained world-wide recognition to make people realize that climate change is happening. Thunberg has made many adults uncomfortable by her scientific speeches. Fonda was inspired by Greta simply because she started striking demand on climate change and was moved by the impact Greta had on the world around her. Most adults would not want to sit through a speech with such a harsh and demanding tone, especially coming from a teenager. For Fonda and Danson, climate change is incredibly important, and many young people should be more aware of it and act. Fonda has protested many topics, such as violence and discrimination, and now she’s taking action towards saving our planet. Different celebrities and activists, such as Ted Danson, joined Fonda for a rally outside the U.S capitol.

One of the main causes of climate change is global warming, which has many negative consequences on physical, biological, and human systems, as well as other effects. Climate change also increases the appearance of more violent weather phenomenon such as drought, fires, the death of animal species, and flooding from rivers and lakes. It’s important to realize what’s going on, not only in our community but in the world around us. Instead of sitting back and doing nothing about it, be part of something to make our world a better place, even if there are some negative consequences to it.
