Welcome to Jollibee

Welcome to Jollibee

Plush character of Jollibee

The opening of Jollibees has been highly anticipated by Maui, especially the Filipino community. Locals used to have to visit Oahu and bring Jollibe home with them but can now have it fresh! Jollibee is located in central Kahului, taking the place of the Bank of Hawaii. Jollibee is famous for their chicken joy. My favorite items from Jollibee are their crispy fried chicken and their yumburgers, which are cheeseburgers with a twist. Some other notable items on their menu includes the sweet jolly spaghetti, pineapple quencher, peach pie, buttered corn, french fries, adobo, and combo meals. Jollibees has their own theme song which is really fun to listen to and sets a happy mood. After my visit, I think this is going to be a huge hit on Maui –  fast food restaurants better watch out!

Since October 2019, there has been a lot of speculation all over Maui about what new business was going into the old Bank of Hawaii building. It was soon revealed that Jollibee was going to be opening their first location on the Valley Isle. Jollibee has been open to the public since Friday January 24th and has had long lines since then. The wait is worth it, though, especially as there is music outside and a backdrop to pose for photos with Jollibee himself. I visited Jollibee twice in one day with my family and was happy to find that the lines moved pretty fast. While waiting in line, workers came to take our orders and we would pay when we entered the building. On my first visit, I was one of the first 100 customers and therefore received an adorable jollibee character bag which I will keep as a souvenir.

Overall, the fried chicken and adobo garlic rice were delicious, I had leftovers to eat for dinner and to take for lunch to school. I highly recommend this place because it has delicious food, good energy and is nothing compared to anything else that is on Maui. It’s mostly all original and every person is getting a little taste of the Philippines. If Jollibee is in your area or hometown, try it for yourself and let your friends and family know!
