Fall Semester 2021:

We did it! Congratulations UH Maui ohana. We had a lot of ups and downs but the term is officially over. They say the present is a gift. I am looking forward to the gift of hope and vision for this new year. As we continue to experience more freedom, I pray that our hearts and minds will be unified this Christmas season. As the Maui community we need to stand together against injustice. We must first look at our self, then others. We must then start to lead our families, neighborhoods, and communities like the world depends on it. Because it does. If we don’t lead our communities who will? We need our people in places of influence in the various spheres of society. In government, education, arts, media, health, entertainment, economics, religion, geography, so on and so forth.

This New Year brings new challenges. As UH Maui ohana, I hope we will continue to lean on and prefer one another. Lets do this together. Lets support one another. Lest we get lost in this age of globalization. We need to be a distinctive people. We need to be sharp. We need to use our collective voice to say no to oppression. Oppression of our minds, lands, and bodies needs to stop. As Maui community we are global leaders. We are not the tail. We are the head. So lets act like it. Its time to use your voice to say what needs to be said, and do what needs to be done.

Lets defend our education. Let not apathy, comparison, anxiety, or depression get the best of these years. Keep moving, be steadfast towards the goal of being the kind of person that can bring light in this world of corruption. Don’t let the mundane nudge you from your lane, run the race well, remain faithful.
