Disney’s Newest Live Action Film “Beauty and The Beast” Amazes Crowds Across the World.

Disney’s newest live-action adaption of a classic, “Beauty and The Beast”, is stunning crowds with it’s magical story, musical numbers and its vibrant characters. Director Bill Condon has brilliantly brought the classic story to life, while keeping the magic and spirit of the original film intact. The characters are just as magical and enchanting as the original animated versions and bring a whole new level of fun for the whole family to enjoy.

“Beauty and The Beast” is the story of a young woman named Belle (Emma Watson), who is known for being intelligent and beautiful, however doesn’t fit in with the other members of her village. After her father Maurice (Kevin Klien) doesn’t return home from a short trip, she sets out to find him discovering he’s been taken prisoner by a vengeful beast in his castle. Belle makes a deal with the Beast (Dan Stevens) and takes her fathers place as prisoner, setting her father free. While living in the castle Belle is able to look past her fears and befriend the enchanted castle staff, while slowly learning to look past the Beast’s hideous exterior and get to know the kind heart of the cursed prince who is hidden inside. The story is one of friendship, love, and learning to enjoy someone for their personality and heart, instead of judging them on their exterior appearance.

Musical numbers like “Be Our Guest” were brilliantly composed by Alan Menken who is know for his works in Disney classics like “The Little Mermaid”, “Aladdin”, “Pocahontas” and many others. The film brings the songs to life, with incredible Computer Generated Imagery(CGI), making the inhuman characters appear real and life like and adding a whole new layer of immersion to the film. The response to “Beauty and The Beast” has been fairly positive, with the film bringing in over 1 billion dollars in box-office sales since its release on March 17.

“Beauty and The Beast” shares the lesson of acceptance and understanding our differences. This is a lesson that in todays world many of us need to be reminded of. We often see people in disputes based on their differences such as skin color, gender, religion and sexuality. “Beauty and the Beast” reminds us that what’s on the inside is more important then what we see on the outside. When given the chance anyone, even and awful beast, might turn out to be someone you have lots in common with and that you adore.

Disney’s live action film “Beauty and the Beast” is an incredible remake of a classic animated film. I would recommend it to anyone, and would definitely want to see it again. This film is playing at the Queen Kaahumanu Center Consolidated Theatres and will be showing until May 4. I give “Beauty and the Beast” a 4 out of 5 stars.
