- Become knowledgeable about UH Maui College
- Develop a sense of belonging to the UH Maui College community
- Prepare for employment at Maui College by:
- Beginning to discover personal positionality
- Developing learning goals

AUGUST 14, 2019 – WEDNESDAY
- 8:30 am – Welcome (Chancellor Lui Hokoana) and Continental Breakfast — Welcome to UH Maui College, vision for education, and Kaʻao
- 9:30 am – Taking a Road Trip
- ~ Kanahā (Hōkūlani Holt)
- ~ Travel to Lahaina – Community Building Exercise (Joyce Yamada); Hawaiian History (Kahele Dukelow)
- 11:00 am – Hale Paʻi (Chris Conley); Waiola Cemetery (Melissa Kirkendall); Cultural resource management (Kahele Dukelow)
- 12:00 pm – Lunch – Lahaina Education Center – History of our College (Diane Meyer)
- 12:30 pm – Outreach Opportunities – Lahaina Education Center (Marti Wukelic & Julie Daliva)
- 1:00 pm – Day 1 Reflection (Laura Nagle)
- 1:30 pm – Leave for campus
AUGUST 15, 2019 – THURSDAY
- 8:30 am – Continental Breakfast
- 9:00 am – Kapu Aloha: An Outlook and Way of Life (Hōkūlani Holt)
- 9:45 am – I was THAT Student (Joyce Yamada) – Positionality & Unconscious Bias
- 10:30 am – Reflection and Discussion (Kahele Dukelow) – How do the things you learned yesterday, NFSSI activities, inform your role at Maui College? What do you bring to your job? What are your learning goals?
- 12:00 pm – Lunch – UHPA Basics (Juli Patao and Thomas Hussey)
- 12:45 pm – What’s Next? New Faculty 101, Contract Renewal Learning Community, Hawaiian Culture & Language Reflection & Discussion Series
