Kaʻao on Campus – Overview of the Kaʻao framework with a focus on Huakaʻi and how we integrate the lessons of the Kaʻao frameworks in our work.

AGENDA:

  • 1:00 pm – Welcome and Intro of Participants (UH Maui College, Hawaiʻi CC, UH Hilo) (Ben Guerreo)
  • 1:15 pm – Overiew of 4 themes of Kaʻao (Hōkūlani Holt)
    • Focus on Huakaʻi
  • 2:00 pm – Faculty Breakout – Kaʻao in the classroom (Melissa Kirkendall, Whitney Hashimoto, Paul Thornton)
    • Staff Breakout – Kaʻao on Campus (Kealiʻi Ballao, Melissa Yoshioka)
  • 3:00 pm – UHMC, UHH & HawCC Campus Breakouts, merge ideas on how Kaʻao will be used on campus
  • 3:30 pm – Pau

RESOURCES & OVERLOAD

Reference resources (such as reference books) will be offered to all participants. $500. overload will be offered to all participants who qualify, such as 9-month faculty and lecturers and who participate in 2 of the 3 offered Kaʻao/FYE Institutes (tentatively in January 2021, May 2021 and August 2021) and submit 2 reflections on what you learned on how the information learned was applied/integrated in your work.
