UH Information Security Awareness Training Certification (ISAT)

Administrative Procedure AP2.15, Mandatory Training on Data Privacy and Security, was approved on October 1, 2021, following an update and consultation process. The primary revision involves the expansion of the requirement to annually complete the Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) for ALL UH employees (except for those who meet specific criteria – BU 4).

Implementing an annual employee training program is critical to keeping our institutional assets safe as the frequency and sophistication of cybersecurity threats continue to increase, together with the increasingly difficult requirements of cyber-liability insurance carriers. We continue to have data exposures and breaches, many of which could have been prevented by improved awareness and practices. Additionally, the University is subjected to federal and state regulatory requirements and industry standards, all of which are requiring stronger privacy and security measures, and of which training is a critical and required component.

The ISAT should take less than an hour to complete and covers principles for sound data management, data-related regulations, standards, and policies that apply to the University, and cybersecurity best practices.

Tips for Completing the Quizzes:

  • You will need a score of 70% or higher to pass the ISAT. It’s also worth noting that there is a 60-day window in which the training needs to be completed. Therefore, if you worked on the training modules prior to the 60-day time period, you will need to take and pass all five of the quizzes again for your score to be updated in ACER to receive your certificate.
  • For assistance with navigating through the quizzes, please refer to the Instructions on Navigating through the ISAT Quiz document.
  • For the best experience, we recommend using a laptop/desktop with Firefox to complete the training.
