Understanding & Responding to Substance Abuse in Our Community

Substance abuse is a significant public health issue that impacts everyone in our community. This workshop will explore the difference between substance use and abuse, prevalence, signs and symptoms of substance abuse, treatment options, and strategies for supporting someone who may be struggling with an addiction. COVID-19 and addiction prevalence will be discussed.

Objectives:

  1. Identify the difference between substance use and abuse
  2. Discuss the warning signs and risk factors associated with addiction
  3. Explore strategies for responding to an individual who is struggling with an addiction
  4. Identify local substance abuse treatment resources
