Wednesday: Painting Techniques & Application Applying primer and paint to designated surfaces (8 hours) Hands-on practice with brushes, rollers, and spray pumps

Learn to build a hale pāpaʻi, 8' X 12' storage shed. Also learn framing, roffing siding, painting and more... This course is developed specifically for community members who are interested in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in their future projects in rebuilding of Lahaina homes. In this 5-day training, students will learn Basic Carpentry, Basic Electrical and Basic Plumbing.

This 8-week, intensive, hands-on pre-apprenticeship program serves as a direct pathway to becoming a registered apprentice with the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship Program. Training will start with instruction in carpentry fundamentals and basic tool use, construction math, basic print reading, metal framing, concrete formwork and drywall, and culminate with a 2-week paid internship at an active construction site. Upon successful completion of this pre-apprenticeship program, students will be granted direct entry to any one of the three registered apprenticeship programs administered by the Hawaii Carpenters Apprenticeship & Training Fund (HCATF).
The pre-apprenticeship program is divided into two parts:
Part 1: 6-week Related-Trade Instruction
Part 2: 2-week Internship

This free class introduces theoretical and job related skills necessary to lay out and construct foundations, wall and ceiling framing, roofing systems, and apply exterior finish components for residential and light commercial construction
Blueprint Reading
Spring 2025 | M | 9:00-11:50
This class introduces the fundamental principles of pictorial and architectural drawing and blueprint reading. Focuses on the use of mechanical drawing instruments and freehand sketching to make shop drawings and develop interpretation and visualization techniques as they refer to detailed artistic renderings and construction drawings, and concepts essential to related fields of carpentry, architecture, engineering, and graphic arts.

This free year-long course completes the academic coursework required by Hawaii Revised Statute HRS 448E for journey worker electrical apprentices. Participants gain foundational skills in electrical safety, as well as applied math, AC/DC theory, motors and motor control, NEC, and transformers.

The proctored TEAS® measures basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading, mathematics, science and English. The test is intended for use primarily with adult nursing program applicant populations. Each question on the TEAS® test is mapped to 1 of 115 objectives, all of which address topics presented in grades 7 through 12. The objectives assessed are those which nurse educators deem most appropriate and relevant to measure entry-level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants.
