Q: WHEN AND HOW DO I RECEIVE MY FINANCIAL AID AWARDS?

A: Your financial aid will be disbursed electronically to your UH Student Account approximately ten days prior to the first day of instruction each semester, as long as all requirements have been completed. However, disbursement into your student account does not mean you will receive the funds on that same day.

Also note the following:

• Your financial aid will first be applied to your registration charges, any excess monies will be refunded to you.
• Loan funds for first-time freshman loan borrowers will be disbursed 30 days after the first day of classes.
• For students attending only one semester (either Fall or Spring), loans are disbursed in two installments. The second installment will be released at the midpoint of the semester.

If you have a bank account, we strongly recommended signing up for eRefund, which allows your refund to be directly deposited into your bank account. This method is safer and faster for receiving your funds.

If you do not sign up for eRefund, a refund check will be mailed to the most current address on your My UH Services portal. Please ensure your address is always up to date.

Please keep in mind that refunds are processed by the Cashier's Office and not the Financial Aid Office. Click here for more information regarding refunds.
