Virtual Lab

Creating your virtual lab account is simple!  If you are having trouble with the directions below, take a look at this interactive tutorial which walks you through the entire account creation process.

To get started visit https://vlab.accountservices.maui.hawaii.edu and log in with your UH account to to get begin.  Setting up your virtual lab account is a two-step process.

1. First you will need to set your password for the virtual lab.
   Note you will not be able to change your username.  It is automatically set to your UH Username
   1. Once logged in click Password Management
      
   2. Enter your password.  As you type, the system will prompt you if your password does not meet the minimum-security standards.
   3. Move down to the confirm password field and re-enter the same password to verify
   4. click Save Password.
      
2. Now that your password has been set, it is time to select a desktop(s) to add to your "my desktop" inventory.
   1. Click on the Available desktop heading.

      

      Two columns will be displayed

      

      1. Available desktops - these are desktops that are available to you, but not currently in your "my desktop" inventory.
      2. My Desktops - these are desktops that are in your "my desktop" inventory.  Note: Currently you are not able to remove any desktops from your "my desktop" inventory.
   2. In the available desktops column click the switch icon next to the desktop you wish to add to your "my desktop" inventory.
   3. Click the add button to commit your changes.

      

Accessing your virtual desktops is quick and easy. The virtual lab extends the reach of UHMC computing resources to students whether at home or on campus. Your desktop files, preferences, as well as application setting follow you no matter where you log on from.
Note: Be sure to log off your virtual session to keep your files and account secure. This is especially true when using a shared computer such as in a campus computing lab.

Method one - Web Browser

Use a web browser to log on to our virtual lab at https://vlab.maui.hawaii.edu. Just be sure you are using a modern web browser such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.

Method two - Select Campus computer labs

Kalama 201, Kupaa 102, Kupaa 204, and the UHMC Library have been optimized for virtual lab usage. Logging is in a bit different that a traditional computer computer. This guide covers the log in and log out process.

How do keep my account secure?

As with any computer system, security should be top of mind to ensure your information is accessed and available to only you.  Here are a tips to keep your account safe

1. Always log out of your account, whether logged in via a browser or a classroom lab computer.
2. Do not share your account with anyone.
3. Do not fall victim to phishing email or phone call attempts, UHMC will never request your username or password over the phone, emails, or otherwise.
