Qualifications: Recommendation from faculty or staff. Ability to relate well to students, professional staff, and faculty with a supportive, helping attitude. Show sensitivity to students of different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and students who may have learning or physical challenges. Ability to learn to tutor in various areas of English, study skills, foreign languages, math, or content areas. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form. Ability to learn TLC or math lab materials, equipment, and computer programs.
Science Tutor – A3 (Extramural) Job Number – 254573
Successful completion of one or more of the following courses: PHYL 141, PHYL 141L, PHYL 142, PHYL 142L, MICRO 130 or BIOC 141 with a C or better. Recommendation from University faculty or staff in content area. Knowledgeable of course content and effective study strategies. Comfortable providing remote tutoring through online conferencing tools such as Zoom, GoBoard, and Google Meet. Experience using or willingness to learn and use effective tutoring strategies. Ability to relate well to other students, professional staff, and faculty with a supportive, helping attitude. Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students from different cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds, and with learning or physical challenges. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to learn TLC operational procedures, processes, software/hardware, equipment, and systems.
