Receiving your financial aid funds
University of Hawaii Maui College(UHMC) can receive financial aid funds no earlier than 10 days prior to the first day of school. UHMC will then automatically pay any outstanding UHMC tuition and student fees. If there are leftover funds after tuition and fees have been paid the student is owed a refund. There are two ways students can receive a refund.
1) Direct Deposit. The preferred method is to sign up for E-Refund(direct deposit). The process generally takes 3-5 business days from when the school receives financial aid funds. An email will be sent to the student when the funds have been sent to their bank. Depending upon the bank it may take an additional couple days to deposit the funds in the students bank account.
2) Mailed check. If the student does not have an E-Refund account the student will be mailed a paper check through the mail. This process generally takes 7-10 business for the check to be mailed. The check will be mailed to the students mailing information as it shows up on their MyUH portal. Make sure both a student’s mailing and permanent address are updated. Any change of address should be immediately updated on MyUH portal.
Tips
1)E-Refund(direct deposit) is the preferred method to receive your refund. The student generally receives it quicker and gets an emailed notification of when funds are sent to the bank.
2)You may not receive your financial aid refund until after the first day of class. We suggest, that if you can afford to, purchase your books and supplies prior to school starting.
