Spring Virtual Commencement June 3rd
JUNE 3, 2020 AT 5:30PM
LINK WILL BE PROVIDED SOON
Congratulations on your upcoming graduation from the University of Hawai’i Maui College! Unfortunately, due to ongoing challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have had to make some very difficult decisions. Based on our current situation, the university has decided that in-person commencement exercises will not be able to take place this May, but we will celebrate this milestone with an online celebration held on Wednesday, June, 3 rd 2020 at 5:30 pm. All 2019-2020 UH Maui College graduates will be eagerly invited to participate in a future ceremony held on campus as soon as we are allowed to provide one.
While no one could have anticipated a virtual commencement, we would like our graduates and their families to know we are committed to ensuring our graduates are recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments.
“I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE ALL OF OUR GRADUATES; YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS THE CORONAVIRUS GRADUATING CLASS. YOU HAVE OVERCOME HUGE BARRIERS TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE YOUR DEGREE AND YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF YOURSELF. ALTHOUGH THESE CHANGES WERE CHALLENGING I BELIEVE THIS EXPERIENCE WILL SERVE YOU WELL IN YOUR CAREERS OR CONTINUED STUDIES. YOU HAVE RISEN TO THE OCCASION AND NOW YOU HAVE ARRIVED.”

Order Your Announcements:
All orders are normally handled by the Herff Jones Company, but due to most of the country hosting virtual ceremonies of some sort, they have not been offering this service, but we are attempting to organize this specifically for our commencement….stay tuned.
The photos we will be taking will be used in our online ceremony, so the intent was to have them look as professional as possible and will be at no cost to graduates. You will though, be able to order from Nagamine if you would like some for keepsake purposes. We realize that not everyone will be able to attend one of the scheduled sessions, as Moloka’i and Lana’i will be included so we will be allowing you to submit your own picture if needed. Picture appointments will be scheduled on May 14-15, 2020.
Deadline to submit photos: Monday, May 18 by 4:00pm.
Before taking and submitting your own photo, click here to view the UHMC Commencement Photo Guidelines.
The safety of our students and staff are of utmost importance and at the forefront of all of our decisions. With that said, the student lounge will be utilized in a manner which adheres to all current safety precautions, including strict social distancing guidelines and the required use of a mask, with the exception of when you are taking your actual picture.
Again, congratulations on your wonderful achievement and stay tuned for more info!
