Understanding Federal Work Study

Federal Work Study (FWS) is part of your financial aid package, awarded by the Financial Aid Office. This program allows you to earn money to cover educational expenses while attending college. FWS funds are disbursed as paychecks for hours worked.

To be eligible for the FWS program, students must meet the following criteria:

How To Find a FWS Job

SECE - Student Employment Website

Students must apply for a job through the SECE website. Students will need to log into SECE using their UH username and password: SECE Website Login

Students must complete the application, interview, and hiring process for a SECE position within 30 calendar days from the first day of the semester to be considered for FWS. Students who are already employed in a SECE position before the start of the semester must submit the Work Study Request Form within 30 calendar days from the first day of the semester.
