Ilocano and Phillipine Studies Courses

No-Cost In-Person and Online Classes Available In Spring 2026!

The Ilocano and Philippine Studies courses at UH Maui College return in Spring semester 2026 with expanded course offerings and new financial support for students. Beginning Ilocano 1 and Philippine Literature will be offered in both in-person and online formats, providing flexible options for students across Maui County and beyond. New classes will be offered in Fall 2026. Students also have the option of taking these classes for credit or non-credit, allowing those who are not seeking degrees to participate fully.

A significant component of this relaunch is the allocation of state funding that will cover tuition for any student enrolled in classes during both the Spring and Fall 2026 semesters.* This funding reflects the state’s recognition of the program’s cultural and educational value and removes financial barriers for all students interested in Filipino language and cultural studies.

*Students must pay tuition and any other costs upon enrolling, with full reimbursement for tuition, books, and other costs (if any) will be made upon submission of a completed tuition assistance application. All students are encouraged to apply.
